The new game is basically a retelling of the first Mortal Kombat and everyone is very curious about the new storyline. Since human Smoke and Cyber Sub-Zero have been confirmed, it looks like something changes in the original story where Sub-Zero is captured and turned into a robotic assassin and smoke escapes remaining in hisВPhuman form, but we’ll just have to wait and find out!

Looks like someone, who was able to get their hands on an early copy of the new Mortal Kombat game, has posted a video on YouTube showing off human Smoke…once you fight through the first 1:30 of shaky camera work. At the end we even get to see Smoke’s Fatality unleashed on Sektor.

So, with Cyber Sub-Zero appearingВPas a playable character and havingВPSmoke, Sektor and Cyrax appearing in human form, it’s possible there is a very different story unfolding in the new Mortal Kombat game. Luckily, we do not have to wait much longer for the game to come out, and we have the Mortal Kombat: Legacy web series premiering tomorrow to help hold us over.

For those who don’t know the story, Sektor, Cyrax, Smoke and Sub-Zero all belong to the same clan of ninja assassins called the Lin Kuei. During MK3 the clan’s grandmasterВPdecided to convert the assassins to cyborgs. The first to sign up was Sektor and then Cyrax. Sub-Zero, with his longtime friend Smoke, disagreed with this decision and fled the clan, which was considered an act of treason. Sektor and Cyrax were assigned to capture the rouge clansmen so that they too could be converted. Sub-Zero managed to escape while Smoke was captured and converted to the third and final cyborg.

This new image, along with a few others, were recently leaked from another person who was able to score an early copy of Mortal Kombat. In the image you see the human forms of Cyrax and Sektor. It’s possible that these are just alternative costumes for the characters, but it might also tie into the new storyline. If so, it would mean we are in for some big changes!
